The Importance of Mathematics

The immediate answer that would come to our mind when we are asked “Why Mathematics is so important” would be “Because it is needed in your everyday life”. And that is unquestionably true. If we look at the professions that kids want to become when they grow up, most of them fall into the category of sciences which require Mathematics knowledge. According to the Forbes article regarding this topic, among the most desired professions for boys are engineer and astronaut, while girls mostly want to become doctors, teachers, scientists, etc.[1]

Most of the time, this is the case until children get introduced to their Mathematics subjects in school and to the difficulties that they face while solving harder Math questions. Pretty sure, after faced with those challenges, they all have second thoughts regarding those professions. However, whatever profession they decide to purse for their careers, almost all the professions require Math knowledge.

Even politicians must have Math knowledge for their statistical analysis and slope-intercept form for economic graphs. The same goes for even ecologists whom require a standard slope-intercept equation when measuring a population size. Not to mention other professions like computer scientist, engineer, astronaut, physicist, biologist, cartographer, mechanic, etc., whom unquestionably require even much more advanced Mathematic knowledge.

Whatever profession youngsters decide to pursue, SAT is an inevitable exam, which contains a special Math Section and is key to their professional studying. Therefore, it is highly recommended that students, liking it or not, do not avoid Mathematics, as it is certain that their lives will sooner or later intersect with it. At least, you will be prepared when confronted with it.
